What do I mean by Ethical Business?

Well it sounds obvious but in reality there is a big disconnect between common sense, and what occurs.

For me based on what I’ve seen over the last few decades, it’s clear that Ethical must include looking after the best interests of your customers and clients for the long run. It also includes looking after the well being of the wider community that the business operates inside of.

When every business owner, employee, and supplier realises that there is a holistic business world in which we all operate inside of, then there is a new opportunity to work more strategically and transparently.

If you have ever had to wait in for an engineer that has never arrived, or if you’ve ever heard an excuse from a supplier that really doesn’t take ownership for what has happened, then you’ve experienced the contrast.

There is an old phrase “Treat others as you would be treated”.

I look forward to the day when we all do this and it becomes our natural state and thoughts.

As part of www.LimitlessNOW.com we considered how to optimally support the causes of the members and those which aligned with the Royal Couple.

The key questions I’d love you to consider are:

What would you like to ask them?
If you had five minutes with the Royal Couple what would you ask them?
What would you show them?
Where would you suggest they go on their honeymoon?

The reason for the title will become clear shortly as you read on.

I flew in yesterday for a few days before heading off to a Mastermind/Networking cruise, and the sole reason to come was to have face to face meetings about a current project that i’ve recently partnered on and securing it’s funding ready for launch in the summer.

So far we’ve had many hours of conference calls and video calls, the joy of Skype, but no physical meetings, and connecting real world and virtual is an essential part for me.There is something very distinct about a real human handshake that tells a lot about a person, and what’s possible.

They are flying in from LA, me from London.

A few weeks ago, snow stopped all flights from London, and also New York, but we seemed to have avoided that impass as I flew in yesterday. So I am here ready for our 8am kick start.

The catch – hale – in LA has meant they have been delayed. Thankfully only till the afternoon, but we still lose 25% of our time, they will be shattered.

The meeting I’m not worried about, we can and will find a way through (it’s a very exciting project that will have global reach and I’ll share soon). The impact and ripples from “minor” weather on people really hit home.

I have a friend B – he has spent the last decade on these kind of questions – how to make projects/goals inevitable? Freeing them from wobbles caused by the unpredictable.

We all pack in so much, schedule and plan time/space like an advanced traffic control, and yet the reality is that the core systems are still very fragile. Skype was taken out recently, Hotmail found emails missing, I’m sure we’ve all had cell phones cut out, and power cuts are a reality still.

Then there’s impact of cold/flus, to say the least.

As we move forward with NOW world PEACE towards Connected World NOW, I’m having to think about these global ripples more and more.

Is there a solution? I think so, and it comes from mathematics and viral groups in the resistance, around data and project mapping. One I think we’ll help systemise for The Simple Idea.

For now though, it’s an inquiry into how we all end up on The Success Spiral, and I’m going to go use iPrioritize on my iPad over breakfast and see what the day holds…

Now what is the weather like… ?

I caught the trailer for a major TV show tonight, and realised that one of the stars is a friend who went travelling a few years ago. We met when I helped a mutual friend with preparations for London fashion week, and with photography which is one of my passions. It’s funny how small the world can be.

I’m also reminded again of the lesson that seems to come and get real, then often, get forgotten – Everything Happens for a Reason. It’s all too easy to get fixated on the expected results, and what we think will happen.

Today has seen – an email from a business partner on new start up opportunities in London (which is one of our passions), possible venture capital funding for several projects through extended networks, as well as the need to get robust teams in place to run the foundations of what many people are building.

Sometimes we’re ready to take these “omens” or “signs” and run with them, sometimes they just go by. Either way, the fact that our routes to where we are now are filled with chance encounters, twists and turns, is hard to escape. I’m allowing myself this moment of lucid thought, as today is intended to be a “day off”, though as I’ve shared a few times, I don’t believe that “balance” actually exists in the conventional pie-chart hours on/hours off approach.

When you’re playing full out, and able to go with the flow, then you can take advantage of what comes up much more easily. The caveat being.. it’s important to know when to say NO.. and that’s something that many of us, don’t like to do..

WIth that said.. I’m going to go follow up on some earlier commitments and continue to see where this spiral rollercoaster takes us tomorrow..

I found a couple of the ideas quite on point, and hinted to prior dynamics – eg the UK Poor houses and Debtors Jails,
where people that couldn’t pay their bills were jailed, until they could pay their bills.
(and yes.. when in Jail, it was virtually impossible for them to work or earn money,
so they would at that point be stuck)

The good news is that Micro-Finance, and Joint Ventures are becomming more prevalent,
and the use of online digital tools and spaces to form cooperative groups, working
at almost 0 cost to produce real value is now “common” though not common in usage.

Either way, I found the idea of leaving Social Media to focus on what you choose,
and understanding that you don’t have to do anything online,
while remaining with a clear understanding that you, provides people with choice.

For myself, I will keep doing what I chose, what I want and what I feels helps most people
most of the time, and being part of the process of Optimisation that we do as Psi Pi Group.
